ABOUT OUR BRAND
What inspired you to create Larken?
Larken was born out of our own struggles as moms navigating the challenges of breastfeeding and pumping. After trying every nursing and pumping bra on the market and still feeling uncomfortable and unsupported, we realized moms deserved better. Our first prototype was sewn by Katie’s mom at the kitchen table at Mother’s Day Brunch, and from there on we’ve been obsessed with making motherhood easier and more comfortable.
Why is your brand called Larken?
Larken means “fierce.” Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also hard. We wanted a name that honors the strength, resilience, and grit of moms everywhere. Larken is here to support you, literally and figuratively.
What makes Larken different from other nursing and pumping bras?
The patented Larken X is the first all-in-one nursing and hands-free pumping bra with no elastic, clips, zippers, snaps, or holes. Made with buttery-soft, breathable fabric, it’s comfortable enough to sleep in, supportive enough for hands-free pumping, stylish enough to wear all day and comfortable enough to sleep in at night.
What is Larken known for?
Larken is known for creating the “sweatpants of bras”, ultra-comfortable, wire-free designs that feel as good as they look. Their best-selling bras double as crop tops, blending relaxed support with softness so you can wear them day to night, nursing or not.
PRODUCT DETAILS
Can I wear the Larken X all day (and night)?
Yes! It’s designed for all-day, all-night comfort. You can pump, nurse, sleep, and snuggle your baby without ever needing to change bras.
Can I use the Larken X with any breast pump?
The Larken X works with most standard electric pumps and also secures silicone manual pumps (like the Haakaa) for hands-free use. Though it was not designed with wearable pumps in mind, some moms do report using the Larken X with those pumps. If you choose to, we recommend sizing down for a more snug fit.
Is the fabric safe for sensitive postpartum skin?
Absolutely. Our ultra-soft, moisture-wicking fabric is perfect for sensitive skin, sore nipples, and tender postpartum bodies.
What is the Larken X bra made of?
When we set out to design the Larken X, we weren’t just looking for something soft. We needed something smarter. We removed the usual stuff. No clips. No wires. No tight bands. That meant the fabric had to do everything. Support, stretch, recover, and repeat.
After testing hundreds of fabrics over the years, we use the current polyester spandex blend for a number of reasons, including its buttery soft feel, ability to be conveniently put in the washer and dryer, and most importantly, its stretch and recovery, which is crucial to the design and functionality. Even better? It’s OEKO-TEX certified to ensure that the fabric has been rigorously tested against a list of up to 300 toxic chemicals, and its silky smooth finish is moisture wicking and won’t stick to your sensitive skin so you can stay cool and dry day and night.
Tested in real life from cluster feeds to 2 a.m. pumps, from crib naps to commute days. We wore it, washed it, lived in it. Because we know you will, too.
Do you offer other products besides bras?
Yes! We offer high-waisted postpartum underwear, nursing-friendly tanks, pajamas, and leggings. all made with the ultra-soft, stretchy fabric for maximum comfort and designed to take you through maternity, postpartum and beyond.
SIZING & CARE
How do I know what size to order?
Our sizing is flexible and designed to grow with you through pregnancy and postpartum. Most moms wear the same size the entire journey, even with fluctuating breast and body changes.
You can find our full Larken X Size Guide for detailed measurements and fit tips. Want to see how the Larken X looks on real women? Visit Larken in the Wild to see our bras on a variety of body types and sizes.
If you’re in between sizes or still unsure, our customer care team is always here to help at info@shoplarken.com.
How should it fit? Do I need to size up or down?
The Larken X is designed with comfort as the priority. It features a relaxed fit with light support, intentionally free from traditional elastic bands to avoid any uncomfortable digging into your skin.
If you prefer a snugger fit for pumping or more support, or if you're between sizes, we recommend sizing down.
Should I go with my current or pre-pregnancy size?
We recommend going with your current measurements at the time of purchase. The Larken X is designed to adapt and stretch with your body across all stages of pregnancy and postpartum. Because it’s a relaxed fit with light support, if you're between sizes or prefer more compression, sizing down is a great option.
How do I care for my Larken items?
We know laundry is the last thing any new mom needs more of so we made our products easy to care for. All Larken items are washer and dryer friendly. Just machine wash cold with like colors and tumble dry low.

OTHER FAQS
I'm not going to breastfeed, do I still need to buy a nursing bra?
Not necessarily, but many moms find that a soft, stretchy nursing or maternity bra still comes in handy. Even if you’re formula feeding, your body may experience breast changes in the early postpartum weeks (engorgement, sensitivity, or leaking). A supportive, hardware-free bra like the Larken X can give you comfort without the digging elastic or clips you don’t need. Plus, lots of moms keep wearing it long after their feeding journey ends because it just feels that good and doesn’t look like a typical nursing or pumping bra.
When should I start wearing a maternity bra?
As soon as your regular bras start feeling uncomfortable! For some moms, that’s in the first trimester as rib cages expand; for others, it’s not until the third trimester. A good maternity bra, like the Larken X, stretches and adapts to your changing body, so you don’t need to keep buying new sizes along the way.
What features should I look for in a good nursing and pumping bra?
Look for comfort first: soft, lightweight fabrics that won’t irritate sensitive skin. A good bra should stretch with you through pregnancy, nursing, and pumping. For pumping specifically, hands-free functionality is key. Avoid bras with bulky layers, awkward holes, or lots of hardware; they can dig into skin, cause clogged ducts, and make life harder than it needs to be. Moms love the Larken X because it eliminates all of that while holding pumps securely in place.
How many maternity bras do I need?
Most moms do well with at least three: one to wear, one in the wash, and one on deck. Since you’ll likely live in them day and night, having a small rotation makes life easier.
Are maternity bras and nursing bras the same?
Not necessarily. Though some bras, like the Larken X, do double duty. Maternity bras are designed for comfort during pregnancy, while nursing bras allow for easy access to feed your baby. The Larken X is designed to do it all, stretching through pregnancy and doubling as a nursing and pumping bra postpartum.
Are nursing bras HSA eligible?
Yes! Nursing bras and pumping bras are typically HSA/FSA eligible expenses. It’s always best to check with your plan, but many moms are pleasantly surprised they can use pre-tax dollars on these essentials.
What is a hands free pumping bra?
It’s a bra that securely holds breast pump flanges in place so you don’t have to. That means you can pump while answering emails, sipping coffee, or just sitting back for a much-needed break. The Larken X is unique because it lets you pump hands-free and nurse without ever changing bras.
What kind of underwear should you wear postpartum?
You’ll want something high-waisted, soft, and non-restrictive. Postpartum underwear should support your belly as it heals while being gentle on C-section scars or stretched skin.
Do you wear a pad with postpartum underwear?
You’ll likely need pads for bleeding after birth. Most postpartum underwear is designed to comfortably hold a pad in place. Some moms also use disposable postpartum underwear, but many switch to reusable high-waisted pairs after the first couple of weeks.
When should I start wearing maternity underwear?
Whenever your regular pairs start feeling uncomfortable or digging in. Many moms make the switch in the second trimester as their belly grows. High-waisted maternity underwear can also be a lifesaver postpartum, especially if you’ve had a C-section.
Do you wear a bra with a nursing tank?
It depends on the tank! Some nursing tanks come with built-in support, but many moms prefer pairing them with a soft, comfortable nursing and/or pumping bra (like the Larken X) for extra comfort, convenience and coverage.
